John T. Jenney, Sr., 75, 154 Summer Circle Drive N.E., died Monday, January 24, 2005, at home following a long illness. Visitation from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial Anderson Cemetery, Swisher, at a later date.
Survivors include his son, John Jenney, Jr., Jeff Jenney, Jim Jenney and Joe Jenney, all of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Jill Barnhouse (Tom) of Lansing, Kansas and Judi (Steve) Kell of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank (Joleen Zieser) Watson of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Mary (Gary) Heins of Center Point; and several nieces; nephews and cousins. He also left behind the "Lady of the House,? his cat, Precious.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Jenney; his mother and step-father, Clara and Frank Watson; an aunt, Nina Merveaux; and a daughter-in-law, Michelle Jenney.
John was born July 30, 1929, the son of Truman Elliott and Clara Mae (Jesina) Jenney in Cedar Rapids. He was a 1948 graduate from Franklin High School where he played basketball for the Bolts. John was a 2nd Lieutenant. in the Air Force from 1950 - 1953 and was a pilot during the Korean War. He enjoyed watching many sports on T.V., golf, baseball, football and basketball. He was a diehard Cubs fan and also a dedicated Hawkeye supporter.
Even through his battle with M.S. of 30 years, he always kept a positive attitude and never gave up his fight with the disease. His sense of humor and the smile he always had on his face was proof of that. He was truly loved and will be missed dearly by all his family and friends. Rest in Peace Dad, the golf courses in heaven are waiting for you.
