John Michael Jantzen, 20, of Lenexa, Kansas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, 520 Wilson Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, where family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial: Sheridan Cemetery, Malcom, Iowa. Following the burial, a luncheon will be served at the Sheridan United Methodist Church, next to the cemetery.
Survivors include his mother, Lori of Lenexa, Kansas; brother, Matt of Ames, Iowa; Grandfather, Rae and Stepgrandmother Kathy Garton of Des Moines, Iowa; Grandmother, Gretchen Fousek of Urbandale, Iowa; Grandmother, Ellen Jantzen of Grinnell, Iowa; Uncle Doug, Aunt Barb and cousin, Marissa, all of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Aunt Peggy Jantzen, Uncle Kenny Jantzen, Aunt Pauline Sharp, all of Grinnell, Iowa, Cousin Dennis Jantzen of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and Cousin Sarah Kuhns of Norwalk, Iowa..
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Jantzen, in May of 2008.
John was born on December 30, 1994, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Xavier High School in 2013. John was a student at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas, at the time of his death.
Memorials may be made to Mercy Foundation in Cedar Rapids or to Shueyville United Methodist Church, in memory of John.
