John “Jack” Sherman Weaver, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2010, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: at a later date.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nelda; three children, Jack, Richard, and Laurie; eight grandchildren, John III, Kimatha, Jessica, Jamie, Michaelina, Jill, Beth and Joe; three great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Katelynn and Emma; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; sisters; and a granddaughter.
Jack was born November 19, 1926, the son of Albert and Harriet (Hallman) Weaver, in Decorah, Iowa. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. On May 1, 1947, Jack was united in marriage to Nelda Witt. He retired from Cherry Burrell after 35 years. Jack enjoyed spending time gardening with his grandkids and watching NASCAR.
