John “Jack” Haren, 69, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Wellton, Arizona, went to be with his Savior Thursday, November 1, 2007, in his home after a courageous battle with cancer, with his family by his side. Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2007, at Edgewood Family Fellowship Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Dr. Craig A. Bex. The family will greet friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2007, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial: 3:00 p.m. Monday, Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi.
Survivors include his wife, Jerilynn; two sons, Dennis (Dawn) Haren of Payette, Idaho and Troy (Julie) Haren of Ely; a daughter, Lorri (Pat) Beatty of Brooklyn, Iowa; and grandchildren, Kurtis Haren, Tara Cutler, Kourtney Haren, Ryan Haren, Samantha Beatty, Ian Beatty, Tyler Haren and Justin Haren.
Also surviving are a sister, Lydia Ferguson of Lebanon, Oregon; two brothers, Henry K. (Mary Ann) Haren of Ryan and David (Elaine) Haren of Belle Plaine; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Haren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Minnie McRoberts; and two brothers, Ferdinand Haren and Hiram Haren.
John was born July 9, 1938, in Delaware County, Iowa, the son of Henry C. and Emma (Henze) Haren. On November 28, 1959, he married Jerilynn “Jeri” Pulver in Delhi, Iowa. He served in the United States Navy. John was a senior field service engineer for Rockwell Collins, retiring in 1998 after 39 ½ years.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He also enjoyed RV life spending winters in Mission, Texas, as well as Wellton, Arizona. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and friends.
