John Edward Holmquist

John Edward Holmquist, 63, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at his home due to natural causes. A ceremony in John’s honor will be held at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
John was born November 25, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, the son of August and Mary (Toye) Holmquist. He graduated from high school in Ortonville, Minnesota, and went on to attend the University of Minnesota, Morris. John had worked as a retail manager in several states and retired from Whirlpool. He loved to read and enjoyed watching college basketball and sci-fi movies. John will be missed by those who love him.
Survivors include his daughter, Emily Holmquist (Fredrik Hejde) of Glimminge, Sweden; grandchildren, Alexander Hejde and Ellida Hejde; brothers, Paul (Sandy) Holmquist and Joe Holmquist, all of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, JoAnn Holmquist of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Mary Holmquist; brother, Augie Holmquist, Jr.; and niece, Haley Rose Bessert.
