John Myron Hadley Sr. "Jack,? 62 of Oneida, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, October 22, 2002, at Finley Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, October 26, 2002, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa, with Pastor Jerry E. Oakland officiating. The family will greet friends from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, and for an hour before the service on Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in the Bethel Cemetery, Osterdock, Iowa.
John was born on July 6, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Myron G. & Frances V. (Reynolds) Hadley. He attended school in the Dubuque area and college in Oklahoma obtaining a degree in accounting. John served in the United States Army, the United States Marines and was a paratrooper. On November 25, 1959 he was united in marriage to Sandra Lee Brandenburg at the First Congregational Church in Dubuque, Iowa. During his working career, John was employed by Chrysler, John Deere, and Caterpillar. He drove truck, worked as a welder, owned and operated his own roofing business and Tiny Town Ceramics. John was well traveled, having lived in Dubuque, Iowa; Silvis, Illinois; and Manchester, Iowa. He enjoyed woodworking, crafts and camping.
John is survived by his wife, Sandra Hadley of Oneida; his mother, Mrs. Myron Hadley (Frances) of Dubuque; his children; Jeffery L. Hadley (Betty Cooke) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Wanda S. (Terry) McDowell of Manchester, Lori A. Hadley (Charles Davis) of Oneida, Penny K. Hadley (William Goodman) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, John M. (Rose) Hadley Jr. of Hazelgreen, Wisconsin, Amy Jo Hadley and friend Anna Kuzmiak of Richmond, Illinois, Julie M. (Charles) Weatherford of Mayfield, Kentucky; two sisters, Jane E. (Melvin) Ward of Texas, and Linda M. Wagner of Texas; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and life-long best friends, Richard & Susan Findley of Loves Park, Illinois.
John was preceded in death by his father, Myron G. Hadley and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
