John W. Graham, 51, of 5611 Vermont Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006, in his home following a long illness. Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Andy Majorins. The family will greet friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home the day of the service. Inurnment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; two daughters, Laurie (Randy) Hanson of Cedar Rapids and Vanessa (Mark) Behrens of Lisbon; one son, Allen Dickerson of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Desrie, Danielle, Miranda, Jared, Camden, Blake, Marissa and Benjamin. Also surviving are two brothers, James Graham and Jason Randall of Cedar Rapids and a sister, Cheryl Maish of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Peggy Graham; his daughter, Tracy Lynn Graham; sister, Jodi; and brother, Rodney.
John was born August 22, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Harold and Peggy (Meeker) Graham. On September 16, 1992, he married Kathy Kay Graham in Cedar Rapids. A lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, John worked for Iowa Steel and Iron Works as an iron worker and was also a union stewart until they shut down. He then worked for Century Engineering followed by self-employment.
John battled many illnesses and tried to stay strong for his family until the Lord called him home.
A memorial fund has been established for the family.
