John Wayne Curtis, 75, a longtime resident of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oelwein. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, followed by a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. at Linwood Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian of Cedar Rapids; a son, Guy Curtis of Cross City, Florida; a daughter, Chris Curtis of Magnolia, Texas; a step-daughter, Leslie (Dean) Nyitrai of Truman, Arkansas; a step-son, Don (Kathy) Robinett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a grandson, Richard Curtis of Florida; three step-granddaughters, Breanna and Faith Nyitrai and Jessica Robinett; and a step-grandson, Trevor Robinett.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Curtis; his father and step-mother, Guy and Gladys Curtis; and a brother, Weston Curtis.
John was born December 17, 1934, the son of Guy and Dorothy Curtis. On December 21, 1974, he married Vivian Mae Harms. He worked as a handyman for thirty years.
