John "Jack? Campbell, 68, of 6312 Greenbriar Ln. SW, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, December 20, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2004, at St. Ludmila?s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Thomas McDermott. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a vigil service will begin at 5:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Bonnie; four children, Kathy (Mark) Dukes of Cedar Rapids, Kevin Campbell of Rochester, Minnesota, Lisa (Andy) Johnson of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Denise (Isaac) Petersen of Clive, Iowa; six grandchildren, Matt (Jenna) Dukes, Sarah Dukes, Seth Campbell, Garrett Johnson, Allison Johnson and Caleb Petersen; two great-grandchildren, Kaylei and Noah Dukes; a sister, Donna (Gordon) Gilbertson of Waukon, Iowa; a brother, Roger (Ila) Campbell of Stromsburg, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jack was born June 28, 1936, the son of Lloyd and Mary Maloney Campbell, in Waukon, Iowa. A 1956 graduate of Waukon High School, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Roe on July 7, 1956, in Waukon. For 40 years, Jack worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation, retiring as a construction project coordinator. He was a member of St. Ludmila?s Catholic Church. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. Jack also loved to golf.
Jack especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren and family. He will be greatly missed by everyone.
