Joe Carson, 83, of Troy Mills, died Thursday, August 7, 2008. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Jamie Wolf. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Larry (Dottie) Carson of Joshua, Texas, Bonnie Carson of Alexandria, Virginia, Ed Carson of Coggon, Jay (Kerri) Carson of Troy Mills, and Julie (Stuart) Cole of Marion; grandchildren, Steve (Patti) Karr, Lauri Karr Smith, Lt. Jaysyn (Heidi) Carson, Sgt. Mathew Carson, Patrick Carson, Sgt. Timothy (Lia) Carson, Daniel Carson, Mitchell (Alissa) Carson, Althea Cole, and Robert Cole; eight great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Carson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Elmer and Lavina Mae (Winistorfer) Carson; and siblings, Vernon Carson, Jerry Carson, Leland Carson, and Ruby Kelsey; and an infant brother, Loren.
Joe was born August 6, 1925, the son of George Elmer and Lavina Mae (Winistorfer) Carson in Edgar, Wisconsin. On April 14, 1945, he married Arlene Baumann. They later divorced. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. Joe was a farmer and grain and implement dealer in Troy Mills.
Joe was a member of Floyd Williamson American Legion Post No. 712 of Troy Mills.
