Joanne E. (Miller) Schupanitz, 66, of 3000 Wilson Avenue S.W., and formerly of Anamosa, died, Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at Hallmar Care Center, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 3, 2004, at St. Jude?s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Don Czapla. Friends may call at the church after 10:00 a.m. Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Anamosa, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Gerald Schupanitz of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Theresa Wills and husband of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Shannon, Skyler and Caitlin; three brothers, James Miller of Greeley, Colorado, Thomas (Joan) Miller of Lasuer, Minnesota and William (Mary) Miller of Madison Lake, Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Ruth Miller of St. Peter, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Charles Miller.
Joanne was born May 17, 1938, in St. Peter, Minnesota, the daughter of Raymond L. and Marie (Meurer) Miller. She graduated from St. Peter High School and St. Joseph School of Nursing in Mankato, Minnesota. On October 14, 1961, she was united in marriage to Dr. Gerald H. Schupanitz at St. Peter?s Catholic Church in St. Peter, Minnesota. Joanne was a member of St. Jude?s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids and St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Anamosa. She was past president of the Altar and Rosary Society and past member of the Catholic Daughters of America of that church. She served as president of the Anamosa Auxiliary Hospital Board and was a past member of the Fortnightly Club and Garden Club. Joanne also served as a charter member of the organizational committee on Main Street USA.
