Joanne M. Hunstad

Joanne M. Hunstad, 66, of 327 Hampden Drive N.E. died Wednesday, February 4, 2004, in Mercy Medical Center, following a sudden illness. Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, by the Rev. Donald Klein. The family will greet friends from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Burial; Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Vern; a son, Mike Hunstad and wife Dianne of Robins; and her mother, Elinor Cheney of Bellevue.
Also surviving are two grandchildren, Lauren and Jamison. She was preceded in death by her father, Roger; a son, Mark; and a brother, Larry.
Joanne was born the daughter of Roger and Elinor (Sturm) Cheney on March 28, 1937, in Bellevue, Iowa. On June 1, 1957, in Bellevue she was united in marriage to Vernon Hunstad. Joanne was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
Joanne suffered from bipolar disorder for many years. The family wishes to acknowledge all of those individuals, care facilities and organizations who provided the treatment and care for her mental illness.
Memorials may be made in Joanne?s memory to Penn Center Care Facility in Delhi, Iowa.
