Joann Louise Millard, 65, of Coggon, died Saturday, June 30, 2007, at home, following a long struggle. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2007, at United Parish Church in Coggon by Rev. Stan Wierson. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Inurnment: Spring Grove Cemetery, rural Coggon.
Survivors include her husband, Gary of Coggon; her parents, Harold and Helen Seeland of Elkader; her mother-in-law, Margaret Millard of Central City; three sisters, Janice (Lynn) Reinicke of Des Moines, Jean Seeland of Waterloo, and Joyce (James) Larson of Peoria; her brother, Charles (Kari) Seeland of Elkader; and three nephews, Andrew and Thomas Seeland of Elkader and Zach Marmann of Elkader.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Lewis Millard.
Joann was born February 17, 1942, the daughter of Harold and Helen (Nichols) Seeland in Elkader. On February 20, 1965, she married Gary D. Millard. She graduated from the Iowa State Teachers College in 1959 and later received her BA and Masters from the University of Northern Iowa.
Joann was a member of the Iowa State Education Association, National Education Association, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Iowa Academy of Science, Excellence in Science and Math Teachers Award, Coggon Historical Society, Old Opera House Arts Council and WDEA-Local.
Joann enjoyed traveling, gardening, making crafts, and fishing.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Joann.
