Joan M. Sellers, 70, died March 15, 2010 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester following a brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Masonville, Iowa by Rev. John Flaherty. Family will greet friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 17th at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home in Manchester with a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Masonville, Iowa.
Joan was born September 25, 1939 in Ryan, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis and Doris (Doyle) Duggan. She attended school at St. Pat’s in Ryan, St. John’s in Waterloo and Manchester High School, graduating in 1958. Following graduation, she babysat, and worked at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids for over 30 years as a Supplies Technician. Joan was united in marriage on January 27, 1984 to Donald J. “Whitey” Sellers in Cedar Rapids.
Joan was a member of the Eagles Club in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, crossword puzzles, shopping, and Bingo.
Joan is survived by four siblings: Sharon (Paul) Netcott of Peoria, AZ, Barb (Chuck) Rettinger of Masonville, LouAnn (Randy) March of Stanley, and Tom Duggan of Masonville; two aunts, Berniece McGinn and Kathleen Halford and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her long-term care provider, Mary Fonck.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Whitey” Sellers in 2008; her parents; and two brothers, Bill and Bob.
