Joan E. Beardsley

Joan E. Beardsley, 76, of 2219 C Street SW, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 17, 2004, at St. Luke?s Hospital, following a short illness. Private family services will be held. A gathering will be held from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m., Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Clarence, a WWII Veteran; her children, Stephen and wife Kathleen, Thomas and wife Anniejo, and James, all of Cedar Rapids, a brother, Donald Warth of Punta Gorda, Florida; her sisters, Joyce Beardsley of Knoxville, Illinois, Janet Scott of Wilton, Iowa and Carole Fogle of Trevor, Wisconsin; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother-in-law, Delbert Beardsley.
Joan was born January 21, 1928, the daughter of Albert and Martha Douglas Warth, in Biggsville, Illinois. On March 14, 1948, she married Clarence Beardsley in New London, Iowa. She worked at various department stores including Montgomery Wards and owned and operated Puzzleworks. Joan was a member of Red Hat Society and loved doing crafts, knitting, crocheting, latchhooking and painting.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Joan.
