Jimmy Vopalka

Jimmy Vopalka, 75, of Center Point, Iowa, died from complications of a stroke on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Inurnment will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Center Point Cemetery, Center Point. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point assisted the family.
Jimmy was born December 31, 1948, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Charlotte (Castle) Vopalka. He graduated from Walker High School. Jimmy worked for Virgil Hines Farms, and Mid-Continent Bottlers in Cedar Rapids. He had a love for Belgian horses.
Survivors include his brother, Steve Vopalka of Center Point; sisters, Mary Reddick of Cedar Rapids, Debbie Vopalka of Marion, Iowa, Rose (Cliff) Beauregard of Center Point, Theresa Vopalka of Center Point, and Lori (Fuad) Hudaib of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Julianna Vopalka and Stanley “Buster” Vopalka as infants; and sister, Elsie Harrell.
