James Dee Martin, 58, of Alburnett, died Monday, August 24, 2009. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, Alburnett.
Survivors include his wife, Denise; daughter, Trena Marie (Steve) Auman; son, Brody Martin; grandson, Payton James; and sisters, Dixie Lee (Donn) Boyse, and Jane (Doug) Brimmer. Jimmy Dee is also survived by many nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and many great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jimmy Dee was born December 13, 1950, to James and Ora Lee (Brody) Martin in Cedar Rapids. He was married to Denise Clark on September 25, 1971, in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. He was a lifelong farmer, and also worked at Farmers Elevator, and Balsters Furniture. He was a proud member of Alburnett Diamond Club, and was passionately involved at the Alburnett Community Historial Society. Jimmy Dee was a lifelong Democrat. He loved daily 8:00 a.m. Mayberry RFB, drag racing, and cars. Jimmy Dee was never seen without his cowboy hat and boots. He was always an outstanding father, grandfather, uncle and best friend. He will be missed in the Alburnett community.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jimmy Dee’s name.
