Jimmy LeRoy Gusta, 81, of Marion, Iowa, died Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Per Jimmy’s wishes, no service will be held.
Jimmy was born December 3, 1942, in Elkader, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Josephine (Johnson) Gusta. He graduated from Jefferson High School, Class of 1960. Jimmy served honorably in the United States Navy from 1964-67. He was united in marriage to Kathleen June Curry on May 6, 1972, in Cedar Rapids. Jimmy worked as a test technician at Rockwell Collins from 1960 until his retirement in 1998. He was a 38-year member of the IBEW Local 1362 in Cedar Rapids. Jimmy was a great father and grandfather. He cherished helping and spending time with his great-granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Gusta of Marion; sons, George “Todd” (Jacque) Gusta of Marion, and Frank “Tad” (Lauri) Gusta of Hiawatha, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Erika Gusta, Corinne (Brandon) Krutzfield, Garrett Gusta, Parker Gusta, Matthew Shebek, Frankie (Jacob) Hauschild, Todd (Zoe) Gusta, and Carson Behrens Goette; four great-grandchildren, Lucy, Calla, Kinsley, Eloise, and one on the way; and twin brother, Jerry Lee Gusta of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Josephine Gusta.
