Jim R. Fountain, 48, of 1300 Oakland Road N.E., died Saturday, August 16, 2003, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by Brother, Dan Denbeste and Rev. Fredrich Mellberg. Burial: Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha. Friends may call today (Monday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Surviving are his parents, Ray and Joyce Fountain of Robins; a sister, Lora (Ron) Mayland of Cedar Rapids; the love of his life, Lori Ann James of Cedar Rapids; and an aunt, Ruth (Adrain) Rittenmeyer of Iowa City.
Jim was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Stanley and Alma Fountain and Joseph and Genevieve Brandstatter, two aunts, Gladys Jensen and June Oldfield and an uncle Erwin Brandstatter.
Jim was born the son of Ray M. and Joyce D. Brandstatter Fountain on September 28, 1954, in Hiawatha, where he was raised. He attended Kennedy High School, graduating in 1973. Jim was a self-employed painter for many years. Jim was a member of Church of the Latter Day Saints in Cedar Rapids.
Jim was always helping and caring and always putting himself second. All who knew and loved Jim will miss him greatly.
A memorial fund has been established in Jim?s memory.
