Jewel Gloria Kieckhaefer, 82, of Marion, died Saturday, March 22, 2014, of a sudden illness at home. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include three children, Steven (Susan) Kieckhaefer, Jeff (Robin) Kieckhaefer, and Kim Kieckhaefer, all of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Tina (David) Maiers, Scotta (Chris) Roling, Tiffany (Damon) Moore, Elizabeth (Dan Gorman) Kieckhaefer, Julia Kieckhaefer, and Emma Kieckhaefer; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; and her son, Scott.
Jewel was born April 19, 1931, the daughter of Eugene and Marcella (Johnson) Morse in Chicago, Illinois. She attended the University of Dubuque. On July 1, 1950, Jewel married Wayne Otto Kieckhaefer in Elmwood Park, Illinois. He died May 21, 2012. Jewel was a homemaker, seamstress, and quilter. Jewel was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed spending time with friends, family and her loving pets, Gigi and Abby.
