Jessie Hargrove, 67, of 804 2nd Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011, in St. Luke’s Hospital, in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness. Services: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Gospel Tabernacle Church, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Mary Beets and Pastor Tim Pridegon. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
Survivors include her children, Dwight Hargrove and wife Lisa of Iowa City; Donna Webb and husband Roy of Cedar Rapids and Anthony Hargrove and wife Jodie of North Liberty; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brothers, Fred (Melissa) Woods of Eutaw, Alabama and Delawerance (Janice) Woods of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; three half-sisters; one half-brother; and life long friend, Rosie Diggs.
Born August 29, 1943, in Panola, Alabama, Jessie was the daughter of Melvin and Maehalie (Jones) Little. On October 27, 1961, she was united in marriage to Willie B. Hargrove. He died December 3, 2002. Prior to living in Cedar Rapids, Jessie resided in Saginaw, Michigan. She was a homemaker, a Mary Kay representative and a daycare provider
Jessie was a member of the Purple Diamond Club and the Gospel Tabernacle Church.
