Jesse “Indio” Salvador Saldivar Jr., 38, of 63 26th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, July 24, 2008, in Grain Valley, Missouri. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church, by Deacon Jim Berger. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Heather; his children, Nico Lawrence, Nicole Lawrence, Cameron Saldivar and Bianca Saldivar, all of Cedar Rapids; his father, Jesus Saldivar of Tucson, Arizona; his father and mother-in-law, Mike and Diane Reutzel of Cedar Rapids; his sisters, Jessica Saldivar and Paulette Gandara, both of Cedar Rapids; his brothers, Tito (Tianna) Saldivar, Paul Saldivar, Fernando Saldivar and Jason Gandara, all of Cedar Rapids; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jason (Stacy) Reutzel and Tammy (Doug) Crouch, all of Cedar Rapids; and his nieces and nephews, TeraJade, Diego, Johnboy, Shae, Chase, Xander, Dejahray, Devon, Noah, Caleb and Sawyer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Tamayo; his grandparents, Joseph and Enemecia Tamayo; and two uncles, Anthony Tamayo and Gary Barker.
Jesse was born February 20, 1970, the son of Jesus Saldivar and Connie Tamayo, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On June 25, 2005, he was united in marriage to Heather Reutzel in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jesse and his partner/friend Shawn Maloney owned and operated Saldivar and Maloney Construction. An artist, he loved fishing, playing pool and building. Jesse could always be counted on whether it be for a laugh or a helping hand. Jesse loved life, but his greatest love was spending time with his family. Jesse’s smile and laughter will be deeply missed by all.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Jesse at the Linn Area Credit Union.
