Jerry W. Milam, was called home to be with his Lord on Friday, May 3, 2013. Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist conducted by Dr. Damian M. Epps. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
He was born to the late Melvin and Camilla Milam on June 17, 1954, in Atwood, Tennessee.
He leaves to cherish his memories, wife, of 29 years Virginia; six children, Sharun, Jerry II, Joshua, Jarvis, Danielle all of Cedar Rapids, and Roosevelt of Chicago, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Dejia, Dartrice, Daneeka, Draven, Dalasi, Diamond and Decarra; mother, Camilla Milam; one sister, Debra Milam-Eaves; cousin/brother, William (B.J.) Milam of Detroit, Michigan; uncle, James (Paulette) Clark of Cedar Rapids; special aunt, Flora Milam of Detroit, Michigan; cousin, Stella (Larry) Slates of Louisville, Kentucky; nephew, Davon of Cedar Rapids; niece, Deisha of Des Moines; and a host of great-nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Jerry was employed at Cedar Rapids, Inc. until it closed and Mercy Hospital until he retired. He loved traveling, barbecuing pork shoulders, listening to music was his favorite pastime and helping others. He loved to laugh and enjoy life with family and friends. He had a kind spirit and loving heart. Jerry loved his family and we loved him and will always.
