Jerry was born October 1, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Dean and Yvonne (Hanshaw) LaKose. He was united in marriage to Alicia Madlom on June 11, 1994, at First Assembly of God in Cedar Rapids. Jerry served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Ricketts and played football while serving. Jerry was owner/operator of Con-Tech America Inc. He and his father “unofficially” attempted to operate Cripple Concrete Construction, “you had to see it to believe it.”
He was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church, Cedar Rapids. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, Legends car racing, rugby, cooking, camping and fishing.
To know Jerry was to love him. His children would like you to know that their father was a great man and their hero. He was also a goofball, a good usher and had a huge heart and would do anything for anybody and expect NOTHING in return, always thinking of others before himself. As Jerry would say, “Roll with the punches and take a hike”.
Military honors will be provided by Marion American Legion Post 298.
A memorial fund has been established for Jerry's children.
