Jerry Lee Howard, 77, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Oelwein, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Manorcare Health Services, Cedar Rapids. Burial will take place at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Arrangements provided by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Nova Jean Love of Oelwein; nephews, Johnny Ketelsen of Oelwein, Allen (fiancée, Amber Stewart) Love of West Union and Lee Love of Newton; niece, Bev (Don) Robbins of Oelwein; five great nephews; two great nieces; two great-great nieces; and one great-great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; and sisters, Jackie and Bobojean.

Jerry was born August 7, 1938, in Fayette, Iowa, the son of Jack and Lorraine (Shaffer) Howard. He graduated from high school in Fayette, attended Kirkwood Community College, and graduated from DeVry University with his bachelor’s degree. Jerry married Mary Howard and worked at the drive-in theater and Hunters Specialty. He was a very gifted musician; he played numerous instruments in his father’s band. Jerry loved music, working on electronics, watching movies, and spending time with family. He also enjoyed his morning coffee at Hy-Vee.
