Jerome F. Trzil, 84, of Marion passed away at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids on August 23, 2015. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Hiawatha. The family will greet friends 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Hiawatha with a scripture service at 4:00 p.m. with additional visitation one hour prior to the Mass. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Military honors provided by the American Legion Post #298 of Marion.

Jerome is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyillis; brother, Rev. Louis J. Trzil of Dubuque; and sisters, Mary Trzil Reu of Cedar Rapids and Sr. Rose Ann Trzil S.S.S.F. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; four nephews, Joseph Reu, Steven (Pam) Reu, Bradley Price, and Darren Price; three nieces, Janice (Jody) Strand, Lisa (Mark) Snively, and Rona Price; 11 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents- in-law, Howard and Elizabeth Price; brothers-in-law, Robert Reu and Keith Price; sister-in-law, Rose Price; and a great nephew, Paxton Snively.

Jerome was born January 13, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Louis and Georgia (Nejdl) Trzil. He graduated from St. Wenceslaus School in 1949. In February of 1951 he entered the United States Marine Corps and served in Korea for six months then was stationed Hawthorne, Nevada. He was a M.P. Sergeant. Jerome was honorably discharged in February of 1954. He married Phyillis Price on April 19, 1960 at St. Wenceslaus Church in Cedar Rapids by his brother Rev. Louis J. Trzil. Jerome was a patrolman for 4 ½ years for the Cedar Rapids Police Department until he had an undetermined paralysis. Later he returned to the Police communication department for 37 years, retiring in 1996. He also farmed from 1975 to 1993. Special hand controls for tractors and combines were made for him to operate the equipment.

Jerome was a member of the American Legion Post #298, Veteran of Foreign War Post #788, and Korean War Veteran Association Tall Corn, Chapter #99.
