Jennie Auen Christensen, 89, of Central City, died Friday, November 25, 2005, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Services: 2 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, by the Rev. Jonna Jensen. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 - 5 p.m. today (Sunday.) Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Robert H. Christensen of Central City; a daughter, Yvonne (Bonnie) B. Huckins and husband Dale of Oelwein; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ella Rider of Marengo and Genevieve Stevens of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Raymond Auen of Central City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; a great-grandson, Cameron; three sisters, Jesse, Anabelle and Hannah; and two brothers, Carl and Henry Auen.
Jennie was born September 12, 1916, in Sac County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Christine Auen. She was united in marriage to Harold M. Christensen on August 31, 1936. He died May 10, 1999. Jennie attended United Church of Christ in Central City. She enjoyed crocheting and crafts.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor?s choice in memory of Jennie.
