Jeffrey Lyn "Jeff" Smock

Jeffrey Lyn Smock, 53, of Des Moines formerly of Manchester, died January 18, 2009 at his home of a heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Greeley United Methodist Church in Greeley by Ruth Tibbott. Family will greet friends at the church prior to services from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at the Greenwood Cemetery in Greeley.
Jeff was born October 6, 1955 in Edgewood, the son of Richard and Linda (Pugh) Smock. He attended and graduated from West Delaware Schools in Manchester. Jeff worked at Palmer Hardware in his younger years before becoming a heavy equipment operator. He worked in this profession for 35 years. Jeff worked for McAnich Heavy Equipment and Elders Construction in the Des Moines area.
Jeff married June Klosterman; they were later divorced. To this union was born two daughters, Stacy and Lindsey. Jeff married Marge Sloan of Des Moines where they resided until his death.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Marge Smock; his daughters, Stacy (Nathan) Fett of Cedar Rapids and Lindsey (fiancé Alex) Smock of Des Moines; Marge’s daughters, Stephanie Rogers of Denver, CO and Peggy (Jim) Kissinger of West Bend, WI; his mother, Linda Smock of Manchester; four sisters, Patti Klosterman, Laurie (Bob) Tibbott, and Jenny Heyer all of Manchester and Deanna Schneider of Beckemeyer, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Richard Smock; his grandparents, Jake and Jessie Smock and Lorain and Lucille Pugh.
