Jeffrey “Jeff” Dean Carter, 54, of Marion, died unexpectedly following injuries suffered in a vehicle/pedestrian accident on Thursday, August 11, 2016, in Tyler, Texas. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Gathering: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2016, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Celebration of Life: 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2016, at the funeral home conducted by Deacon James Luksetich. Inurnment: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Carter; children, Meggan (Spence) Rubendall, Scott Carter and Michael Carter; their mother, Robyn Carter; his parents, Jerry and Nancy Carter; brother, Gregory (Elsa) Carter; two sisters, Kimberly (Brian) Carter-Clark and Sherri (Jeff) Vanhess; mother-in-law, Rita Luksetich; granddaughters, Charlotte Rubendall and McKenzie Rubendall; grandson, Tyler Rubendall; step-daughter, Molly (Sam) Pettit; step-sons, Andrew Clark and Alexander Clark; and step-grandson, Jack Pettit.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Thomas Luksetich.
Jeff was born June 28, 1962, in Denver, Colorado, the son of Jerry and Nancy (Wright) Carter. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School. Jeff received his Bachelor’s degree from Upper Iowa University, a Master’s degree from University of Wisconsin of Platteville and a Master’s degree from Florida Institute of Technology. On June 25, 2016, he married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Luksetich, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jeff was employed at CEC.
Jeff was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan. He was very devoted to his work at CEC. He enjoyed listening to Elton John, The Beatles, and playing his guitar. Jeff loved his family above all. He especially loved being “Papa” to his beloved grandbabies.
Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital in honor of his granddaughter, Charlotte.
