Jeffrey Todd Hansel

Jeffrey Todd Hansel, 52, of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, due to a long illness. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Heidi; and children, Blake of Cedar Rapids, Kyle of West Des Moines, and Nicole of Charleston, South Carolina. He is also survived by his parents, Donald and Nancy Hansel of The Villages, Florida; brothers, Gregory Hansel of Royal Oak, Michigan, and Bryan (Deborah) Hansel of Overland Park, Kansas; in-laws, Larry and Joleen Twachtmann of Marion, Todd (Susan) Twachtmann of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, and Kristin Hawkins of Knoxville; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents, Theodore and Mary Hansel and Donald and Virginia Downs, all of Earlville.
Jeff graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1982, and spent most of his career in sales and product development. Most recently, he worked on the design and development of electric commercial vehicles. His work required him to travel extensively and he leaves behind many friends around the world.
Jeff enjoyed golfing, fishing, and all types of motorsports. His favorite times were those spent with his family and he was always there to support his children in their activities and interests. Jeff had a positive energy and a love of life that will be missed by those who knew him.
