Jeffery Newman, age 45, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family. Jeffery was born on January 8, 1977, in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Fenger High School. Jeffery moved to Iowa many years ago. He worked at Performance Food Service where he held a position as a packer and forklift driver.
Jeffery is survived by his partner, Kathryn A. Smith; his children, Davonte, Javonte, Marcina, and Shawn Newman, Donte and Elijah Taylor; his grandkids, Jay’ceon Newman, Zoe Taylor, Ennaya Taylor, and Elijah Taylor, Jr; siblings, Staley, Doris, Demetris, Don, Elnora, and Shante Newman, John and Teresa Gordon; his auntie and uncle whom he spent his childhood with, Mary and Harold Baggett and their children; and a host of uncles, aunties, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elnora Newman Clark; father, Joe Clark; brother, Joe Nathan Newman; and sister, Joyce Ann Newman.
Jeffery was a loving father and loved all his family and friends.
