Jeanne E. (Ives) Beeson, 81, a lifelong resident of Marion, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Graveside Committal: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2003, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2003, at First United Methodist Church, Marion, by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Friends may call at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, from 4 - 6 p.m. Friday (Nov. 21).

Survivors include a son, Phil Beeson of Swisher; a daughter, Mary McLaren and husband Tim of Marion; a sister, Mary Gill of Cedar Rapids; and five grandchildren, Jack, Ben, Kelley, Chris and Nick.

Jeanne was born the daughter of Harley F. and Louise E. (Goldsberry) Ives on January 18, 1922, on a farm in rural Marion Township. She attended Martin?s Creek School through the eighth grade and graduated from Marion High School in 1939. Jeanne was a graduate of Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri. She worked for Iowa Title and Abstract and the Order of Railway Conductors for several years. After World War II, she was united in marriage to John Arthur "Sonny? Beeson Jr. on June 1, 1948, at First United Methodist Church in Marion. Sonny died August 1956. After Sonny?s death, she worked for Marion Independent Schools and in the Milwaukee Railroad office. She had last worked at Kirkwood Community College in the Grants Department until her retirement in 1987.

Jeanne was a past member of American Business Women?s Association and the "Infamous S.O.S. Club.? A member of First United Methodist Church and Mary Circle of the United Methodist Women, she was an active volunteer at the church library.

Jeanne especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also loved gardening, cross-stitching, sewing and cooking. Jeanne was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
