Jeanette E. Fredrick, 90 of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 15,2024, at Mercy One in Dubuque, Iowa. Visitation will be held, 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Dubuque. Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Jason R. Davis officiating. Please see church the website for livestream. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Earlville. Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service Earlville is in charge of arrangements.
Jeanette was born on January 9, 1934, in Irwin, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Luverne (Plummer) Ortberg. She graduated from Earlville Consolidated High School in 1951. Jeanette married Eugene Fredrick on May 5,1952, and became the mother of four children. After raising her family she worked in Oelwein, Iowa at the Credit Bureau, Hartig Drug and First National Bank, followed by Maquoketa Valley School System in Earlville. Jeanette also worked for Dyersville National Bank, First National Bank in Dubuque and Clarke College before retiring and moving to Texas. The couple moved back to Dubuque in September 2013 to be closer to family. Jeanette enjoyed playing the piano, traveling, reading, crocheting and knitting, embroidery and quilting. She loved playing cards with her friends and family, especially with the grandchildren. Jeanette will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Jeanette is survived by her husband of 72 years, Eugene Fredrick of Asbury; sons, William “Bud” (Lou) of Dayton, Wisconsin, Thomas (Joyce) of Brewster, Massachusetts, Charles (Kim) of Dubuque, Elmer “Jay” (Terry) of Ames, Iowa; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Scott (Linda) Ortberg of Texas; sister-in-law, Janet Ortberg of Florida; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Luverne Ortberg; brothers, Robert (Carol) Ortberg and Bruce Ortberg.
