Jean E. Hassel, 75, of 280 Boice Road NW, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 14, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Gary) Hanson and Patti (Terry) Waddell, both of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Phyllis (Art) Schrader of Dysart, Shirley (Jim) Stoner of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Jim (Marlys) Floyd of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Betty Floyd; and two brothers, Charles Floyd and Paul Floyd.
Jean was born October 19, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Paul E. and Ella Marie (Steuber) Floyd. She married Francis "Frank? Hassel on May 4, 1951, he died on April 13, 2003. Jean worked as a retail clerk at Kirlin?s Hallmark store. She was a charter member of St. Mark?s United Methodist Church. Jean enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
