Jean J. Hahesy, 64, of Manchester, Iowa, died on Wednesday, November 5, 2003, at her home in her sleep. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2003 at the Manchester United Methodist Church with the Pastor Andy Baldwin officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2003 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester, Iowa. Burial will be at the Hansel Cemetery in Garber, Iowa.
Jean was born April 1, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Francis J. and Nellie J. (Hill) Hansel. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1958. On October 16, 1958, Jean was united in marriage to William D. Hahesy at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester. Five children were born to this union. They settled in Manchester, where Jean was a homemaker. The couple later divorced. Jean drove school bus for West Delaware Schools for thirteen years.
Jean was a member of the Manchester V.F.W. Auxiliary. Her hobbies included genealogy, woodcrafts and collecting owls. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her parents, Francis & Nellie Hansel of Manchester; five children and their spouses, Debra & Ed Simon of Clear Lake, Bill Hahesy and fiancée Kendra Carpenter of Masonville, Barb & Lonnie Aulwes of Strawberry Point, Richard Hahesy of Manchester, and Daniel & Amy Hahesy of Manchester; twenty grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Hansel of Marion; two brothers, Jim & Wanda Hansel of Cedar Rapids and Larry & Mary Hansel of Manchester; and special friends, Milo & Leona Letts, Charlotte & Oscar Hicks, Delpha & Jamie Ostrander, Jeff Penney and Donnie.
Jean was preceded in death by an infant son, Dennis Hahesy, in 1961.
