Jean Marilyn Caldwell, 98, a resident of Ashbrook Assisted Living, Iowa Falls, Iowa, formerly of Coggon, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls. The family will greet friends from 12 – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the United Parish Church in Coggon, with a Memorial Service following at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at the Coggon Cemetery. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Jean was born on October 3, 1925, in Delaware County, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd and Lucile (Kirkpatrick) Henderson. She was a 1943 graduate of Coggon High School and went on to earn her Teaching Certificate through Iowa State Teacher’s College. On June 2, 1946, Jean was united in marriage to Warren “Buck” John Caldwell in Coggon. She was a member of the United Parish Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, as well as served on the Library Board and as a Cub Scout den mother and Girl Scout leader. Jean volunteered at the Faith Mission Thrift Store and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, playing golf, quilting, reading, square dancing, and wintering in Florida. Jean will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jean is survived and lovingly remembered by her son, Stan (Sherry) Caldwell of Steamboat Rock, Iowa; daughter, Lyn Caldwell (fiancé, Dan duBois) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; two grandsons, Eric (Becky) Caldwell of Pekin, Illinois, and Chris Caldwell of Steamboat Rock; two great-granddaughters, Rylee and Raegan Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buck Caldwell, who passed away in 2015; and siblings, Don Henderson, Eleanor Price, and Mary Lu Robinson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and residents at Ashbrook Assisted Living for the kindness shown to Jean during her time there.
