Janice Vogel, 62, a resident of the Cedar Rapids area since 1970, most recently a resident of Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, in St. Luke?s Hospital located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, following a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2004, at Eastview Christian Church, Cedar Rapids, by Dan Woodell. Burial: Springville Cemetery, Springville, Iowa. Friends may call at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, from 4 - 8 p.m. today (Thursday.)
Survivors include her children, Deb (Dennis) Carmody of Urbana, Valarie (Mike) Zieser of Urbana, Natalie (Mike) Stallman of Ely, Cameron (Earleen) Kick of Center Point, Joan Kick of Urbana and Mike Vogel of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Judy (Martin) Zieser of Marion and Betty Aulner of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and twelve grandchildren, Tanya (Danny) Workman, Ryan Carmody, Chasidy and Kelsey Zieser, Kolby, Jarrett and Treven Stallman, Katie, Hannah and Travis Kick, Cassy Jo Farley and Kammie Vogel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Albert and Lloyd Huft; an infant sister, Betty Lou; and her horse, Josh.
Janice was born November 10, 1941, the daughter of Ed and Bessie (Cooper) Huft in Roscoe, South Dakota. Janice worked at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, retiring in 1996 to take care of her grandchildren.
Janice had a passion for children, helping others and for life in general. Her hobbies were spending time with her family and her horses.
