Janice Brandt Sluiter

Janice (Brandt) Sluiter, 62, of 4703 Foxtail Court, Marion, formerly from the Cedar Falls area, died Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at her home from cancer. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Al Christopherson. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Friday. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Jan is survived by her husband of forty-one years, Jim; a daughter, Heidi (Steve) McCandless of St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, and a son, Shad (Cynthia) Sluiter of Marion; four grandchildren; four siblings, Dr. David (Sandy) Brandt of Mercer Island, Washington, Joan (Bruce) Finn of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Jean (Paul) Vizzini and Tom (Rhema) Brandt all of Glendale Arizona; and her father, Dr. Gerold Brandt of Marion. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen, in 2002.
Janice Brandt Sluiter was born to Dr. Gerold and Helen (Heath) Brandt in Garnavillo, Iowa, on April 9, 1943. On December 19, 1964, she married James G. Sluiter of Parkersburg, Iowa. After graduating from St. Luke?s School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids in 1964, Jan enjoyed working as a part time nurse until she was diagnosed with ALS in 1988. The most important day of Jan?s life was January 7, 1954, when she was born again. She was a member of Marion Gospel Hall.
