Janet Rae Tucker, 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a lengthy illness. Services: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her mother, Edith of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Edith Curtis of Bisbee, Arizona and Jeann Howse and husband Bob of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Berniece Tucker of Oskaloosa and Josephine Tucker of Arkansas; numerous cousins, including David and Delight Kelly and Dennis and Jan Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews..
She was preceded in death by her father; a sister; two brothers; and a brother-in-law.
Janet was born February 1, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Edith Tucker. She moved with her family to Cedar Rapids in 1956, and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1959. Janet graduated from the University of Iowa in 1963. She was a computer programmer at Rockwell/Collins for 10 years and later for Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas for several years.
Janet loved to dance, everything from ballroom to square dancing. She also enjoyed horse back riding and going to horse shows. She was a kind and loving person and will be missed by all who knew her.
