Janet L. Robinson, 68, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, March 20, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 12 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids with visitation beginning one hour prior. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family.
Janet was born June 13, 1952 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Flenoid and Jean (Davis) Cole. She graduated from Washington High School. Janet was united in marriage to Harrison Robinson on June 14, 1975, in Des Moines. She worked at the Comfort Inn as a front desk receptionist and started enjoying her retirement in 2010. Janet loved to play cards, especially Bid Whist, complete Sudoku puzzles, and attend family reunions. Music was her life and ministry. She was the minister of music at South Suburban Church in Illinois for 24 years. Janet was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed being the head organist for the male chorus.
Survivors include her children, Katrina Robinson of Blue Island, Illinois and Michael Robinson of Midlothian, Illinois; grandchildren, Terri Moore-Robinson, Mishana Robinson, Tremaine Robinson; great-grandson, Javon Moore; god-grandson, Gemmir Hawkins; siblings, Lance Moreland, Michael (Kathy) Cole and Donna Adams, all of Cedar Rapids; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friend, Ken Webb.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandmother, Edna Ross; and sister, Vanessa Moreland.
