Janet Marie Nesley, 78, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2015, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2015, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion, with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Graveside Service: 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2015, at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.
Survivors include her children, Jill (Dean) Waterhouse, Jonathan Nesley, and Jennifer Nesley, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Ryan, Nick, Nathan, Alissa, Kaylee and Emily; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dean (Marcia) Nesley of Wisconsin, Patsy (Keith) Peyton of Coggon, and Charlie May of Stone City; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman; daughter, Julie; and brother Robert Farmer.
Janet was born on March 29, 1937, in Anamosa, Iowa to Cecil and Augusta (Rieken) Farmer. She graduated in the Class of 1955 from Anamosa High School. On June 2, 1963 she married Norman Nesley at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a caregiver. Janet enjoyed bowling, traveling, shopping, and getting together with her classmates and family. She was very giving person who loved people and treasured relationships.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Janet’s honor.
