Janet A. (Young) Miller, 66, of Swisher, died Monday, October 31, 2011, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Hope Lutheran Church by Pastor Dan Clark-Bridges. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Trent and Ida “Hays” Miller of Forrest City, North Carolina; her mother, Arlene Young-Casner of Swisher; a brother, Bruce & Joyce Young, Jr. of Swisher; two sisters, Karen & Harlan Bean of Ringwood, Illinois; Sue Ann & Pat Frasher of Worthington, IA; former daughter-in-law, Elizabeth “BeBe” Miller of Orlando, Florida; and two grandchildren, Lila & Maxwell Miller.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce “Frankie” and her husband, Steve.
Janet was born August 22, 1945, the daughter of Bruce and Arlene (Hepker) Young, Sr. in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1963. She married Stephen Miller on December 1, 1962. They moved to San Francisco, California, Georgia, and Florida. Janet returned to Iowa in the fall of 2006 to care for her mother.
Janet was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, caring for her plants, working outside, and music.
