Janet Lea Johnson, 50, of 5539 Klinger Street SW, Cedar Rapids, died Friday, August 17, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Johnson; her son, Damon (Jamie) Haberkorn of Cedar Rapids; her parents, Francis and Mavis Sheely of Cedar Rapids; ten sisters, Marcia (Ed) Engel of Ely, Cheryl (Ron) Croy of Phoenix, Oregon, Patricia (Curt) Sheely- Adolphson, San Antonio, Texas, Michelle Sheely of Cedar Rapids, Kristine (Duff) Herren of Bloomfield, Iowa, Jacqueline (Dave) Patterson of Ladora, Iowa, Carleen (Jay) Kirkland of Springfield, Oregon, Angela (Dave) Kern of Johnston, Iowa, Roberta (Paul) Cisars of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Melinda (Tod) Keiffer of Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Donald and Vivian Johnson of Cedar Rapids; and a sister-in-law, Amy (Jim) Pollitt of Belmond, Iowa.
Janet was born August 3, 1957, the daughter of Francis and Mavis (Sparrgrove) Sheely, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Prairie High School in 1975. On December 1, 1984, she was united in marriage to Mark Johnson in Cedar Rapids. For over 25 years, Janet worked in the car rental business at Hertz for 11 years and Avis for 14 years.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, watching golf, NASCAR and loved her cat, “Baby.”
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association in memory of Janet.
