Janet was born June 1, 1954, to Phyllis and Robert Bruner in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She went to Kennedy High School. She married Gregory Davidson, Sr. on April 28, 1978, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
Janet worked at General Mills for several years and most recently at Our Little Haven Daycare. Janet enjoyed working as the cook at the daycare. She loved the kids and they all referred to her as “Grandma Janet” or “Granny J”, just as her own grandkids did.
Janet was also very fond of all of her children and grandchildren. She always enjoyed watching her granddaughter, Kaylese, play basketball. Being part of her grandchildren’s lives was her biggest joy. If Janet was not enjoying time with her family you could usually find her singing karaoke. She was one of the biggest fans the Beatles ever had.
She was a very loving and supportive person who will be greatly missed by her family and all who had the privilege to know her, especially her children, Bobby (Shay Jordan) Davidson, Dawn (Nic) Miller, Zach (Kendra McCormick) Davidson, Gabe (Megan Simon) Davidson, Laci (Kerry Williams) Davidson all from Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Kaylese, Aiden, Macyn, Elijah, and Adalyn; great-grandson, Daelyn. Janet is also survived by two stepsons; Greg Davidson, Jr. and Scott (Dyanna) Davidson and their children, Cella, Clarissa, Greg, Chelsee, Brianna, Emilio, Ashley, Alex, Miguel, and Maddie; her siblings, Roger (Clara) Bruner, Gary Bruner, Ron (Judy) Bruner, Russ (Deb) Bruner, Barb Bruner, Brian (Lorrie) Bruner, and Kris (Andy) McEowen; and stepmother, Carolee Bruner. She had several nieces and nephews who will also miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her special friend, Gregory Davidson Sr.
From your children, “Mom, your family loves you so much. You were so brave and strong through our lives especially the last 2.5 years. You taught us how to fight and never give up. It’s time you are free from all of the pain you have suffered. We know you are in God’s hands, with your mom and dad, with that we find comfort. We love you with all of our hearts.”
We would like to thank our family and friends for supporting our mom through her accident and struggle. Also, we want to thank the Oldorf Hospice House staff for the care and support given to Janet and family.
A memorial fund has been established in Janet’s memory.
