Janet E. Aler, 68, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Services: 12:00 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2014, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family will greet friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell; son, David (Lesa) Aler; three grandchildren, Myles, Sydney and Spencer Aler; one brother Michael (Pam) Kane, all of Cedar Rapids; four nephews and one niece. Janet was preceded in death by her parents.
Janet was born on November 28, 1945, in Cedar Rapids to her parents, Lester and Carol (Dunn) Kane. She graduated from Jefferson High School and Kirkwood Community College where she received her AA degree and she later attended Hamilton Business College. She married Darrell Aler on March 17, 1973, in Cedar Rapids. Janet was employed for 30 years at Rockwell Collins.
She was an avid gardener and sports fan, but her greatest love of all was her family.
