Jane M. Secor (Mitchell)
June 26, 1927 — August 4, 2008
Jane M. Secor, 81, of Hiawatha, formerly of Des Moines, died Monday, August 4, 2008, at Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, following a lingering illness. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Rick Gail. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private Inurnment: Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, Leland; a daughter, Jacquelin Hubbard of Cedar Rapids; 3 grandchildren, Steven L. Hubbard, Christopher M. Hubbard, and Kimberly D. Hubbard; 7 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Joseph, Cole, Kelsey, Zachary, Bradley, and Broderick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one great-granddaughter, Jessica Simmons, and one sister, Shirley Mitchell.
Jane was born June 26, 1927, in Des Moines, and as a young child was adopted by sisters, Hazel and Lola Mitchell, who raised her. She attended Monticello Preparatory College in Illinois and married Leland Secor on May 3, 1947 in Clearwater, Florida. Jane was a devoted member of the First Assembly of God Church in Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Assembly of God Church for missions or to the Hospice of Mercy in Jane’s memory.
