Jane G. Briggs Cooper, 89, a resident of Living Center West, formerly of Marion, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by Chaplain Steve Hindman. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two nieces, Charlene Briggs and Rebecca Briggs-Sauer; two great-nephews, Joshua and Caleb; and a sister-in-law, Martha Briggs, all of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, John "Sam? Holton and Gale Cooper; her sister, Florence Briggs; and her brother, Dr. Charles Briggs.
Jane was born April 11, 1914, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Heaney Briggs, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On June 14, 1944, she married John S. Holton at Reno, Nevada. He died in 1956. She later married Gale Cooper. He died in 1976. Jane owned and operated Cooper Antiques in Marion. She was well known throughout eastern Iowa for her expertise and knowledge of antiques.
