JAMES B. WYCKOFF, 83, of 3011-30th Street Drive S.E., died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Higley Mansion Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Jim was born November 23, 1920, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Willis Fred and Leone (Pitts) Wyckoff. On October 17, 1943, he married his wife of 60 years, L. Lorraine St. Pierre, in Chicago, IL.

Jim is survived by a son Thomas J. Wyckoff and wife Diane of Cedar Rapids; a daughter Suzanne J. Wyckoff of New York, NY; two grandsons, Thomas B. Wyckoff, William J. Wyckoff and wife Sacha , and great-granddaughter Logan, all of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine on December 9, 2003, his parents and his brother Dr. William Harvey Wyckoff.

A life-long resident of the Cedar Rapids area, Jim was a real estate broker and appraiser for over 40 years. He graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids in 1938 and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. He was a self-taught musician, receiving great pleasure from playing the accordion and the organ, especially during impromptu family jam sessions. He volunteered in numerous community activities including the summer meals program at Polk School for which he was honored. On many Thanksgiving days, he and Lorraine delivered dinner to the elderly, which they did even on Jim?s 80th birthday. He was a member of First Christian Church serving in many posts in the church over a 45 year period.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Mercy in Jim?s memory.
