James J. Wall, 60, a resident of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 19, 2004. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, by the Rev. John Gossman. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, where a parish vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Graveside Services: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsville, with military rites by Busch-Dennis American Legion Post 309.
Survivors include a son, Jamie Wall of Catlettsburg, Kentucky; a daughter, Lisa Wallis and husband Richard of Helena, Montana; and three sisters, Joyce Dierks of Marion, Jane Melchert of Springville and Rose Mary Lang and husband James of Ruskin, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and John.
James was born the son of John William and Anna O?Meara Wall on February 4, 1944, in Dubuque. He served in the U.S. Army during peacetime, stationed in Korea. He married Judy Bishop and they later divorced. Jim worked for many years in the construction industry and also owned and operated a Kirby vacuum cleaner business in Washington, Iowa.
