James Robert “Stubby” Stolba, 93, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Jim was born May 20, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Wencel and Minnie (Volz) Stolba. He served in the United States Air Force from 1948 – 1952, in Tachikawa, Japan. Jim was united in marriage to Delores “Dorie” Helen Yilek on August 23, 1952, in Cedar Rapids. He worked at FMC Link-Belt-Speeder for 41 years until his retirement.
He loved to fish, listen to country music, and vacation in Colorado. Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Stolba of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Renee (Jack) Campbell of Marion, Iowa, Connie (Mike) Johnson of Paola, Kansas, and Penny (Jon) Hearst of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Mathew Campbell; brother, William Stolba; and sister, Ethel Bridge.
